There were 4 errors in the Mock2 exam. All of these have been corrected now and available on dashboard.
Your result review will now show the corrected q&a and text & audio explanations. Edits have been marked in blue for clarity.
We are not issuing detailed explanation here as it will influence candidates who will take this mock on 1st Feb.
Snapshot of Edits:
1. QM q24: There was a small typo in the question data. Lone will need $8000 (not $6000)
2. FRA Q10- TradingX Ltd—word ‘Reverse’ was missing. It was a typo error, apologies. It will be Reverse stock split (not stock split).
3. FRA Q12 (Zingerberg and Bikers): there was a mixup of names in Option C and it’s explanation, which led to confusion and hence 2 options were seeming incorrect instead of 1. This has now been corrected, pls refer to the question now.
4. FRA Q13: option C should be 80 million (not 36million). Explanation and calculation of option C also corrected accordingly.
——-
Hope this clarifies.
Request everyone to satisfy themselves with the updated knowledge on these questions (results cannot be re-evaluated on basis of fresh edits, so request all to cooperate on that front)
Thank You everyone for your patience and understanding.

Good to see that all Level 1 candidates are Actually reviewing and analysing the paper post the exam!!!
Proof?
A number of students reached out to point some potential mistakes in the Mock2 paper!!!
(1 was a typo in QM question, one could be a calculation mistake in FRA Question)
We are looking into it and request everyone’s patience and understanding. The entire team at QForum has put in a lot of effort to bring this mock to the table in the interest of all Level 1 candidates globally, and while we are sorry for the errors/typos, we would be grateful if everyone could extend some patience in this regard.
Advise to analyse the rest of the paper and leave these questions till we issue the clarification.
Also request not to upload mock screenshots on QForum, it hurts future mock-takers interests.
Thank You
Team SSEI QForum
Note:
1. Potential errors/typo in Q24 QM, Q12&13 in FRA
2. Write to QForum@ssei.co.in if you spot further errors

Good morning sir!
Hope you and your family are safe and good.
I am a CA Final student and pursuing CFA too. I have been awarded scholarship for L1 and wish to take classes from you for the same. Sir my attempt for CFA L1 would be August, 2021and my CA Final attempt will be on May, 2022. I have few queries concerning my preparations :
1. If I start preparing with your videos from 20th Jan., 2021 , will I be able to complete watching your videos for my Aug.attempt and be prepared for the exam.(Because of the long 520+ hours lectures).
2. Sir! My CA Final classes are also going on simultaneously. I am done with my SFM and Cost classes. Currently, my FR classes are going on with Parveen Sharma sir. Also, if I am preparing my FRA portion with Praveen Sharma sir, would I still be needing to watch your FRA lectures?
Kindly help me sir. I am in too much confusion.
Thankyou sir,

Find Sanjay Sir’s take on the new SFM Mat:
ICAI has released new study mat for SFM for 2021.Students got anxious and asked me to have a look at the same. I have gone through the same…page by page…cover to cover. ICAI has basically included sums of old syllabus SFM into the new mat in the relevant chapters. In my existing mat( SSEI SFM mat), i had already done the same. There is a nothing new in the ICAI new study mat as compared to what is already present in SSEI SFM study mat. Everything is covered in class.
Ofcourse as you know, papers that are nowadays coming are not from the mat at all…they are totally new sums for which one has to refer to new types of sums videos released by me on youtube, challenger series on youtube and extra challenger series that i will be taking.
Also it is necessary to do revision classes uploaded on youtube chapter wise as they contain all sums of past papers, mtp and rtp that have been tested from 2018 to now…in both old and new syllabus.

Susan Winslow manages bond funds denominated in US Dollars, Euros, and British Pounds. Each fund invests in sovereign bonds and related derivatives. Each fund can invest a portion of its assets outside its base currency market with or without hedging the currency exposure, but to date Winslow has not utilized this capacity. She believes she can also hedge bonds into currencies other than a portfolio’s base currency when she expects doing so will add value. However, the legal department has not yet confirmed this interpretation. If the lawyers disagree, Winslow will be limited to either unhedged positions or hedging into each portfolio’s base currency.
Given the historically low rates available in the US, Euro, and UK markets, Winslow has decided to look for inter-market opportunities. With that in mind, she gathered observations about such trades from various sources. Winslow’s notes with respect to carry trades include these statements:
Regarding inter-market trades in general her notes indicate:
Winslow thinks the Mexican and Greek markets may offer attractive opportunities to enhance returns. Yields in these markets are given in Exhibit 1, along with those for the base currencies of her portfolios. The Greek rates are for euro-denominated government bonds priced at par. In the other markets, the yields apply to par sovereign bonds as well as to the fixed side of swaps versus six-month Libor (i.e., swap spreads are zero in each market). The six-month Libor rates also represent the rates at which investors can borrow or lend in each currency. Winslow observes that the five-year Treasury-note and the five-year German government note are the cheapest to deliver against their respective futures contracts expiring in six months.
Exhibit 1
Sovereign Yields in Five Markets
Floating | Fixed Rate with Semi-annual Payments
6 Mo Libor | 1 Yr | 2 Yr | 3 Yr | 4 Yr | 5 Yr
Mexico | 7.10% | 7.15% | 7.20% | 7.25% | 7.25% | 7.25% |
Greece | — | 3.30% | 5.20% | 5.65% | 5.70% | 5.70% |
Euro | 0.15% | 0.25% | 0.30% | 0.40% | 0.50% | 0.60% |
UK | 0.50% | 0.70% | 0.80% | 0.95% | 1.00% | 1.10% |
US | 1.40% | 1.55% | 1.70% | 1.80% | 1.90% | 1.95% |
Winslow expects yields in the US, Euro, UK, and Greek markets to remain stable over the next six months. She expects Mexican yields to decline to 7.0% at all maturities. Meanwhile, she projects that the Mexican Peso will depreciate by 2% against the Euro, the US Dollar will depreciate by 1% against the Euro, and the British Pound will remain stable versus the Euro. Winslow believes bonds of the same maturity may be viewed as having the same duration for purposes of identifying the most attractive positions.
Based on these views, Winslow is considering three types of trades. First, she is looking at carry trades, with or without taking currency exposure, among her three base currency markets. Each such trade will involve extending duration (e.g., lend long/borrow short) in no more than one market. Second, assuming the legal department confirms her interpretation of permissible currency hedging, she wants to identify the most attractive five-year bond and currency exposure for each of her three portfolios from among the five markets shown in Exhibit 1. Third, she wants to identify the most attractive five-year bond and hedging decision for each portfolio if she is only allowed to hedge into the portfolio’s base currency.
Q. Which of Winslow’s statements about carry trades is correct?
Q. Which of Winslow’s statements about inter-market trades is incorrect?
Q. Among the carry trades available in the US, Euro, and UK markets, the highest expected return for the USD-denominated portfolio over the next 6 months is closest to:

Very tough language given in the solution to a problem relating to carry trade in core. These were the 3 statements asking us to identify which statement is correct.
Carry trades may or may not involve a maturity mismatch.
Carry trades require two yield curves with substantially different slopes.
Inter-market carry trades just break even if both yield curves move to the forward
rates.

Hi Team, as per Inst. solution the Value of Floating Leg is NOT equal to Par. The valuation shud have been caluated by Value of Fixed Receiving Leg= PV of all the CPN and CF 3%*20,000,000(Z1+Z2+Z3) + 20,000,000(Z3) =20,342,380 Value of Swap= Value of Fixed Leg- Value of Par Leg =20,342,380 -20,000,000 =342,380 But this is not the Answer. Institute Solution.
Calculate the sum of PV = 0.9802 + 0.9560 + 0.9311 = 2.8673. Calculate the fixed swap rate = (1 – 0.9311)/2.8673 = 0.0240. Calculate swap value per ZAR = (0.0300 – 0.0240) 2.8673 = 0.0172. Thus, total swap value = 0.01720 × ZAR20,000,000 = ZAR344,076. B is incorrect because B uses wrong PV factor for Fixed swap rate (1 – 0.9311)/2.8673 = 0.6905 = (0.0300 – 0.006905) × 2.8673 = 0.066219 × 20,000,000 = 1,324,380.Read less
