Good evening sir. I hope you and your family are doing well.
I’m 3rd year student from SRCC (Delhi), CA Finalist and also a CFA L1 candidate (exam due in nov.21).
Soon campus placement will be starting and Big 4’s and many Finance companies like JP Morgan will be coming. I personally want to build my career in Finance and therefore i chose to pursue CFA but i also want to complete my CA.
JP Morgan and the like also offers Industrial training, so i was hoping to do my Articleship from Big 4 and then go for industrial training as i think it will be a good opportunity and exposure to learn more about the working of a finance related company. But i have heard from many people that Big 4’s don’t allow you to go for industrial training.
Sir, if that’s the case what should i do?
Should i be complacent and choose Big 4 without Industrial training because of their brand and the work, OR
Should i do Articleship from mid-sized firm that allows for industrial training?
See, to be very straight forward… Your profile only matter to the point you haven’t entered into a job… Once you get in a profile of your choice it all boils down to your performance in it. So, if you could land up in a core finance profile always a bonus.
Big 4 experience is hugely valued in the market… Even more than any other MNC like JPMC or Goldman Sachs.. industrial training is something you can negotiate with the HR at the time of hiring. If you’re communicating your preferences comprehensively I’m sure you’ll be duly heard.
Go for Big4… That’s the best platform to start your career with.
