Was having a doubt, as in this question
H0: u> equal to 59000
Ha: u< 59000
So its a left tail test, sample size is big so z test. By solving answer comes to 10.56.
But answer should be – 10.56 as it is left tail test na?
I’m getting confused in +/- sign. As the test is left tail test, z statistics should be negative?
Just imagine a critical value of -1.96 & test stat is 10.56 so you are failed to reject Ho.
Oh, the left tail test indicate negative critical value, not the test statistic?
Yes
And suppose that it is a right tail test, so z critical would be 1.96(positive) and as z statistic is 10.56 i.e z stat> critical
Therefor h0 rejected.
Yes
