I agree that the question is incomplete but you can solve it otherwise by options. As this is a single tail test and even with DOF not know the lowest possible t statistic will be z statistic i.e. 2.33, so if the options are all below this then you fail to reject the null hypothesis. Can you please share what is option C.
a) 1.86 REJECT THE H0
B) 1.86 FAILED TO REJECT H0
C) 2.44 REJECT THE H0
Hi Yash.
Deveshparwal’s answer makes sense here. You know that for a 1% significance and area in one tail the z or t critical value will be 2.33. and in the options the t statistics are calculated as 1.86 and you know that if t stat < t critical, we fail to reject the null hypothesis. The model is insignificant. Hence, answer should be B.
but in option c given value is 2.44 which is higher than 2.33 and it can be rejected at that point therfore the confusion is happening here.
a) 1.86 REJECT THE H0
B) 1.86 FAILED TO REJECT H0
C) 2.44 REJECT THE H0
It seems that this is an incomplete question.
