Because alternate hypothesis does not have an equal sign( as given in option C).
Null hypothesis always has an equal to sign. Hence it’s option B
But the ques is trying to determine whether the mean diff between the two strategies equals 0, so we’ll take alt hypothesis as equal to 0 only
Look, all I know is that the alternate hypothesis does not have an equal to sign.
But if I had to take a guess here, there was a concept that said an individual item does not have any probability in normal distribution. It was somewhere in the notes or it was discussed in class when discussing it.
So I don’t think you’ll be able to test a single value here. By that logic, it has to be the not equal one being the alternate.
Also, for argument sake here, there are different ways to write the same thing, it’s just that which way is more appropriate given the condition in which we write.
Both B and C are technically gonna give us the same result, one would say rejected and the other failed to reject or vice versa given which is null and which is alternate.
I hope you get my point.
