Mr.X (supervisor) uses financial projections of company A from the research report created by Mr. Y (subordinate) and writes a memo to the director regarding the company without citing the source. However, he omits the fact that Mr. Y had visited company A for his analysis.
Did Mr. X also violate IC Misrepresentation by omitting the subordinate’s visit to company A?
No?
I am not sure, but it seems a violation to me.
I think answer will be no… unless it is mentioned that the company visit was an important part of the analysis. Usually reports don’t happen only after visiting the company, so it can be removed without changing the crux of the report.
If the supervisor is in violation of using his subordinates work to write a memo and not cite it, could be a violation; then omitting the fact of his subordinate’s visit to the company could be a violation too right?
I think supervisor can use subordinates’ work and write his own name on the report
Its a violation, nobody can use anyone else’s work and cite as their own, whether it’s a supervisor or a subordinate
